we are here...to write

We are here…to Write!

We are here…to write is an initial 8 week programme with a combination of masterclasses from professional writers and peer-to-peer group sessions with space for networking, collaboration and development. These sessions will progress your writing and personal development as well as provide an opportunity to create and connect with a community of like-minded artists. This is the first of a diverse programme of resources for South West based artists.

Who is it for?- Writers who are people from the African and Caribbean diasporas, people who are South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, North African, Middle Eastern or ethnically mixed heritages and who are currently based in the South West region. South West is defined as Bristol, Cornwall (including the Isles of Scilly), Dorset, Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Open to artists aged 18+, we are looking for scriptwriters of any discipline whether that be for stage, screen, audio or games. This first programme is being aimed at those who have previously had their work produced whether that be as part of a university project, performed onstage or released as online content. If audiences have seen and/or heard your writing in the past, we welcome your interest!

What are we offering?

An initial 8 week programme combining masterclass and development sessions with plenty of space for networking and collaboration. 4 weeks of the programme will be masterclasses led by professional writers aiming at polishing your skills and 4 weeks will be peer-to-peer group sessions which will progress your writing and personal development as well as to meet like-minded artists from the region. The sessions will be practical, fun and tailored to what you would like to get out of the programme. They will culminate in an open sharing of your writing read by professional actors. The sessions will run every Wednesday evening from the 28th April.

The writers’ group is the first strand of Beyond Face’s new Artist Development programme
