How do we work with Artists?
We currently work on a project-by-project basis but are always interested in hearing from artists from the South West. If you would like to hear more then do get in touch to meet us for a coffee to hear more about our work, if we could support you or future collaborations.
The Beyond Ensemble is our development and training programme for early career artists. Bespoke to the artists in our Region, the ensemble is an opportunity for artists to create, learn and develop under the guidance of the Beyond Face team. Previous ensemble members have gone onto produce their own performances, write work for the Beyond Face Company and work for organisations across the UK.

Our Associates have worked on one or more Beyond Face productions and are long-term collaborators. It is important to us as a Company that we maintain relationships with all the artists that we work with, whether in the South West, London or across the Globe.

Beyond Face CIC is a performance company based in Plymouth whose mission is to raise the profile and visibility of Black, Asian and ethnically diverse artist, young people and communities.
The Company engages with professionals, young people and communities in a variety of outlets. We create high quality professional performances which we tour across the UK, as well as deliver workshops, training and support for developing artists, young people, businesses and educational institutions.
The company was founded in 2015 by Theatre Practitioner Alix Harris who, after working in Plymouth and running a series of consultation workshops, recognised the need for a company such as Beyond Face to exist in Plymouth & Devon.
“The reason why I love Beyond Face Youth Company is because it is a place where I can express my love for acting, music and dance, and feel comfortable and am not judged.” – Emmanuel, Youth Company Member.
Beyond Face Youth Company gives young people, from the ages of 11-18, the opportunity to work with Professional Directors, Choreographers and Writers to create new work, perform in professional theatre venues and watch upcoming performances at local theatres in the city.
For the past 3 years we have worked on a youth writers exchange with Doorstep Arts as part of the Agatha Christie Festival.
